Catching up

As I mentioned, we were going to the Cubs game on Monday night. Well, we didn't. First of all, I'm changing my rule from no games before Memorial Day to no games before June. We had gorgeous weather all weekend and then came Monsoon Monday. OK, it wasn't that bad, but we knew the game would be freezing and we didn't want to risk a rain delay. They are the worst. So, we gave the tickets to our neighbors. They were so excited and grateful and I was happy that they weren't being wasted. Turns out there was no rain delay, but we did lose :(

So I asked Mr. Happy what I should write about tonight and he replied, "How great I am!" He was joking, but I think it's a great idea. Tonight, he got home from work first, so he made dinner. Steak, brussel sprouts and biscuits. Delicious! I never liked brussel sprouts until he prepared them and made me try them. He's a great cook, and I'm a great dishwasher, so we make a great team. He also fixed my tire for me this weekend. It had a slow leak. I feel like I should know more about cars and fixing things, but I'm just not interested and he's really good at that stuff. I appreciate his handyman qualities and definitely do not take them for granted, at least I think I don't. And one more thing, before you guys start to puke over how perfect he is (remember it's only been 2 months, so the honeymoon's not over, wink wink), he still opens my car door for me everytime we get in the car, seriously, 9 years later. Chivalry is not dead, at least in our house. I think he gets a rose this week!

Ahhh, Saturdays

5 things I love about Saturdays...
-Waking up without the alarm clock
-Sitting down and eating cereal out of a bowl instead of a plastic cup in the car (not the safest or most environmentally friendly practice) because I'm always running late during the week
-Facebooking without feeling guilty that I should be doing something else. It's amazing how many people are on FB on a Saturday morning
-Watching old movies on TV...already saw Breaking Away and Home for the Holidays
-The number one thing I love about Saturdays...I love NOT going to work!!!! And to top it off, who doesn't love a three day weekend?

Topic change---Yesterday, after work, I legally became Mrs. Happy!!! Socially, I've been Mrs. Happy since the day we married, but I had to put off changing the name legally since our h-moon and sis's grad trip were booked under my maiden name and I didn't want any problems while traveling. It was much easier than I expected. I still have to go to the SS office, which I think might be a bigger hassle, but I'm up for the challenge.

Tomorrow, we're celebrating my Grandma's 80th b-day. It's a surprise and she's probably going to be angry, because she DOES NOT like surprises. Oh well, that's what you get for turning 80 and having a big family that loves you, sorry 'bout it Gram.

Also, we're going to our 1st Cubs game of the season on Monday! Yes, we are fans of the lovable losers. We bleed Cubby Blue. However, I do have a rule against going to games before Memorial Day. It is Chicago and it can snow in June (not really, but it's pretty unpredictable). The only thing I dislike more than the Cubs losing, is watching the Cubs lose in the bone-chilling-Lake-effect-Windy-cold. GO CUBS GO!!!
XOXO

ps...I love reading your comments and the fact that I'm getting followers. I can't believe how much I have in common with total strangers.

Back to Reality

We had a great time in Boston and I miss little sis already :( We made it there and back safely, and family drama was kept to a minimum. Happy Hubby and I realized on this trip that we are no longer 22 years old. Now, we're not geezers, but I cannot go drink for drink with 22 year old bartenders, like I used to. I take that back. I can still go drink for drink, but not without a monster hangover. Oh well, lesson learned. Wait, that's what I said last time. OK, so maybe next time I'm faced with the opportunity to dance my (poker)face off under the influence of jagerbombs I'll remember that I learned my lesson. Yeah, we'll see.
Sadly, I didn't get a chance to do any shopping this trip, but I think I'll make up for it this weekend. A coworker of Hubby's commented on how nice he looked today. He said "I'm married now so my wife dresses me." Then I realized, I'm dressing him better than I'm dressing myself. Time to pick it up. I'm hoping for spectacular Mem.Day sales this weekend.
Like usual, I'm way past my non-existant bedtime and I will be paying for it in the morning.
XOXO

Cheers, We're off to Boston!

Happy Hubby and I are off to Beantown in the morning for my little sister's College Graduation. Oh, how time flies. I remember the day she was born, just like it was yesterday. She's turning into such an amazing woman and I'm so proud of her. I like to think that I have something to do with her success. She's told me many times that she looks up to me, and now I look up to her. I'm proud of her for moving to Boston (she's staying there for at least one more year ::tears::), and spending a semester in Europe, and working 3 jobs for most of her college career. She has no desire to use the degree she's earned, just like her big sisters, but I know she'll be successful with whatever she chooses.

Enough of the Sappy, this is the gift Happy Hubby and I are giving her...

With her initial of course. If you can't tell, it's from our fave, Tiffany!!! I can't wait for her to open her gift. I was very tempted to buy myself a little something while I was shopping for sis, but I resisted. I do plan on purchasing a few things while in Boston. I'll share those when we return. Until then, please wish us safe travels (I hate flying) and a drama free weekend (Lots of family, it happens).
XOXO

My First Blog

Hello and welcome to my blog. I will introduce myself by pointing you towards my profile (I spent a lot of time on it). I am as new as they come to the blogging world. Happy Hubby and I used to joke about how silly blogging was. Why would complete strangers be interested in my life? Why do I want to tell complete strangers about us? While I was at work today, thinking about how much I dislike my job, I found the answer. I can blog to blow off steam, to get outside opinions and advice (unlike the unsolicited kind that your family gives you that you have to politely say Thank you to, but really you have no intention of using), and maybe just maybe somebody out there in this enormous blogosphere will understand where I'm coming from. **Random side note...I am from Chicago and we tend to end our sentences with prepositions. I know it's wrong, so it's something I'm working on. <--See?
Besides my hubby, my sisters are the other VIP's in my life, and I'm sure you'll be reading a lot about them too.
I mentioned in my profile that I am a chronic oversleeper. I have been for my entire life. I think it has something to do with being a night owl. Unfortunately, I've chosen a career that is in full force from 8-5. It would probably be a good idea for me to bring this blog to a close and hit the hay (the very comfy-brand new-hypoallergenic-pillowtop-wedding gift to each other-hay). My guess is 3 snoozes should do it tomorrow.

I promise I'll try to say "blog" less in my next blog. I did mention this is my first blog, right? blog blog blog :) Nighty night

XOXO
